Waze is a navigation app. Surrey police made this admission on Twitter. It seems like cops drop random markers at points on the app during the patrol hours. This makes riders aware of their presence at marked points.

Waze operates as a free navigation system based on GPS and includes features that allow users to mark a pin at specific locations. What Surrey police admitted though, signifies that they have been fooling riders about their presence. While riders surely would slow down seeing the Waze pins, the crux of this is unfair.
How The Tweet Has Gone Down?
Netizens are displeased with this claim. The police defended its cheeky tweet saying that some patrol vehicle is surely around the marked pin as seen on Waze. They stated that the app never specifies that a pin means that a patrol vehicle parked out there is stationary. The passersby too can report if a vehicle is parked as per the pin location on app. At a time when policing officer numbers have dipped to 4102 in 2022, from 5237 registered back in 2021; this news shows the force in poor light.
