Mediatek Dimensity 1200 vs Snapdragon 888
A Weibo post by a Chinese leaker has revealed that the specification sheet shows a more powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 865. The higher frequency of this chipset indicates that the chipset clocks higher than the Snapdragon 865 (with clock speed 2.84GHz.) While the Dimensity 1000+ is clocked at 2.6GHz, a leak reveals that the Dimensity 1200 will have a prime A78 core clocked at 3.0GHz. It may possibly also have three A78 cores clocking in at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. This may also be the first 6nm chipset by the manufacturer, and this shift to a smaller node size could bring an increase in efficiency as well as performance. The CPU performance also comes with a better 5G modem and an improved Image Signal Processor (ISP) that may enable phones to capture better photos as compared to chipsets from the previous generation. Dimensity 1200 may appear in phones ranging from OPPO, realme Vivo, and iQOO, as well as power phones like Huawei and Honor.
Mediatek Dimensity 1200 vs Snapdragon 888 – Which is Better?
The Dimensity 1200 will certainly beat the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, the last-gen flagship SoC, but it may also be placed well-above the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Redmi Vice President, Lu Weibing mentioned the Dimensity 1200 on his Weibo account, hinting that the upcoming Redmi K40 series might be powered by the Dimensity 1200 mobile platform. Like every other Dimensity processor, this one too is expected to have 5G connectivity and is said to be built on a 6nm fabrication process. Redmi has further said that the upcoming Redmi K40 series smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, as the Pro variant Redmi K40 Pro. Going by this information, Dimensity 1200 may power the next Redmi K40 series smartphone in a couple of months.
