Mounting evidence suggests that wearing face masks can help in the fight against COVID-19 as it limits the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus. Although states across the country have eased restrictions imposed at the start of the lockdown, it is still extremely important for people venturing out to take all possible precautions to stay safe. Now, while there are some brides and grooms who are opting for matching masks with their outfits and turban respectively, but then there are some who don’t want to cover their face, especially on their wedding day. A groom in Indore, Madhya Pradesh was asked to pay a fine of INR 2,100 on Monday after civic officials saw him sitting in a vehicle with 12 others. According to the statement issued by  Indore Municipal Corporation Health Officer, Vivek Gangrade, “Dharmendra Nirale was fined while department officials were taking routine rounds to check if social distancing norms were being adhered to in view of the outbreak. He also said, “While the administration has allowed 12 people to take part in a marriage function, in this case, all 12 were sitting close inside a single vehicle, that too without wearing masks.” The groom ended up paying INR 1,100 for not maintaining social distance and IN1,000 for not wearing a face mask, Mr Gangrade said.

In another report, a couple from Chandigarh is seeking protection from the Punjab and Haryana High Court after tying the knot against family wishes. When they submitted their wedding pictures as proof, the court asked them to pay a fine of INR 10,000 for not wearing masks during the wedding ceremony.
