Who can register for the COVID vaccine?

The government has set up National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration, or NEGVAC, to come up with a plan to identify priority groups across states. Basis certain parameters ascribed by the government of India, around 30 crore people, from the most vulnerable group, etc., have been put on the priority list. The list comprises frontline and healthcare workers, defense personnel, sanitation staff, etc.  Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan in a statement said, “After consultation with experts, we have prioritized 30 crore people for COVID -19 vaccine. It includes health workers, frontline workers like police, military, and sanitation staff, people above 50 years, and those who are below 50 years but are suffering from certain diseases.”

How to start COVID vaccine registration online?

To register online for COVID essential, it is a must to have a valid ID proof like a PAN card, pension card, passport, voter ID, MNREGA job card, or driving license to register yourself for the vaccine. Your state civic body will soon start the online registration facility just like Ahmedabad civic body did. Till then, you need to be patient. Notably, post online registration, you will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number. The cyber cell of thane, Mumbai police has warned the citizens to careful of fraudsters who call seeking details for coronavirus vaccine registration. According to the advisory issued by the authorities, a group of fraudsters has been calling people and asking for details stating that they will be registered for COVID vaccine.  These callers seek the Aadhaar card details, email ID, and o other information of the receiver, post which they ask them to authenticate their Aadhaar number by sharing a One Time Password. But, once the OTP is shared, all the money in the Aadhaar linked is immediately shipped off. The cybercrime department of the Central Govt. has also warned citizens to be of wary of scams associated with COVID-19 and vaccination.
